Our three Bell 212 helicopters in Brunei have been under contract to the MoD since1993 and Army crews have flown over 15,000 hours during the intervening period. The helicopters primary task is to support UK military training exercises both in country and at other locations in the region. Support is also provided to the Brunei government.
FB Heliservices provide the aircraft, all the maintenance and the
logistics support including detachments to Mulu in Sarawak.
January and February 2005 saw two of the FB Heliservices Bell 212 helicopters from Brunei deploy to Banda Aceh in support of the Tsunami relief operation. FB Heliservices engineers detached with the aircraft to provide all engineering support, living in tents with the Army aircrew alongside the operating area. A total of 246 flying hours were flown during the 32 day deployment, carrying 250,000 lbs of freight and 71 passengers.
