Defence Helicopter Flying School (DHFS)

This is a 15 Year (1997-2012) contract in support of the Tri-Service Defence Helicopter Flying School which was formed to provide basic & advanced rotary wing training

In addition to providing helicopters and instructors we also carry out all the air engineering and test flying functions, provide operations staff, run the helicopter ground school and simulators and support the whole RAF Station in a variety of roles

We also provide the helicopters and engineering support for the Central Flying School (Helicopters) Squadron that provides Tri-service and International instructor training

Search and Rescue Training Unit (SARTU)

For Search and Rescue training, the company provides 3 specially modified Bell 412EP helicopters, 40% of the SARTU instructional staff and all the engineering and Safety Equipment support

Simulator

FB Heliservices owns and operates a Bell 412 Simulator for the DHFS, which is also available for use by other civil and military customers when not contracted to the school.

The simulator is housed in a purpose-built building which includes comprehensive brief and debrief and ground school facilities. The simulator was manufactured by FlightSafety International and meets all the requirements of the very comprehensive FAA Level D specification.
