Brief Job Description: 

 

Suitable applicants are invited to apply for the above positions at RAF Shawbury. The successful applicants will be employed as civilian instructors in CATCS delivering training primarily in Air Traffic Control Training Squadron and the Training Support and Development Squadron and undertaking other duties as required by Officer Commanding CATCS.

 

Responsibilities will include briefing, instructing and debriefing UK military and other students, carrying out the role of Duty Instructor, setting examination standards for students and maintaining student records.

 

Working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Normal working hours are 08:00 - 17:00 (one hour lunch break). However you may be required to work additional hours.

Essential: 

 

  • Qualified as a CATCS instructor as defined in JSP 822
  • Recent experience as a CATCS instructor; refresher training will be provided
  • Held military ATC Aerodrome and Terminal Radar endorsements
  • Defence Train the Trainer qualified (Course Number 2001)
  • Recently held a military ATC instructor endorsement
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office applications - Powerpoint, Word and Excel
  • Demonstrates good analytical and problem-solving skills which support continuous improvement
Desirable: 

 

  • Area Radar controlling experience
  • Thorough knowledge of the new Air Traffic Services Outside Controlled Airspace
  • Be IT competent, ideally with full ECDL qualification or equivalent (e.g. NVQ 2 or Clait Level 2)
